Steve Shorey > Number 1. 74 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe - owned from new and now the oldest electric in my collection. I bought it for £230 from Rhodes Music in Denmark Street in April 1974 and played it on every gig for years. Out of fashion for a while because of the smaller pickups - rarely gigged these days

Steve Shorey > Number 2 'Blackie' style Japan Vintage Stratocaster, bought in 1983 and used on almost every gig until 1998 - when I bought another Strat. Sounds amazing. 'JV' Fender guitars made in Japan 1982-84 are a hybrid of American parts and Japanese attention to detail and are very highly regarded. I have played a lot of guitars and this is truly one of the best at any price.

Steve Shorey > Number 3 Tokai (Japan) Goldstar Strat - A bargain buy from a friend who was selling up. An awesome Strat with EMG SA pickups that are worth the price I paid by themselves - bought 1998 and my electric guitar of choice after I retired blackie for a few years
